Book #2 from the series: Mystery and Misadventure

Mystery and Misadventure: An Old Acquaintance (Mystery & Misadventure Book 2)

About

Imagine being terrified by a clock sitting silently on your table. You can’t destroy it; you can’t give it away. If only you hadn’t entered that shop and bought the magazine from that kind elderly man.

Samuel Prite introduces us to thirteen more tales. As our guide, he leads us through ghostly encounters, supernatural events, and rather unfortunate happenings. Unfortunately, our guide may not be all he appears to be.

Samuel Prite is your constant throughout this compilation; his warning to the various characters gives us gentle hints of the strife to come. He is the character you are drawn to. He is the harbinger of doom and as you read on you get more of a clue as to who he really is. He lingers in the background of the stories until the writer skilfully draws him out at the perfect moment.
My personal favourite was the Chamber ... It was character driven and highlighted how complicated life really is and how art really should be. It was chilling and compelling in equal measure and crescendoed into the prefect twist.
(Spinetinglers)

Just when you thought it was safe to delve into a short story collection revolving around ordinary lives, incongruous circumstances rise up with a bite of the unexpected. Such is the grip and delight of this exceptional collection!

... an older-style horror of mystery over outright shock, leaving questions that haunt far more than the blood spatters and curses that abound.
... leaves a deliberate want for more and the incentive to wait. Well-conceived and thoughtfully delivered, it’s an imaginative and exciting piece that just gets curiouser and curiouser. (SPR Review 4.5/5 stars)

★★★★★ “I cannot wait for the next book to be released so I can continue reading more of the twists, turns and intrigue associated with the shadowy character of Mr Samuel Prite, who is he, or what is he, I’m sure there is more to come from Mr Prite in future stories.” – Amazon review

★★★★★ “I am big fan of horror. I have read so many books. I can say that this book takes you back to what horror writing is all about. Some of the stories have been done before however M. D. Hall makes me want to read them all over again. The words creepy and scary are put to good use in this book!!” – Amazon review

★★★★★ “This book is an eclectic collection of dark tales. The collection brings to mind the TV series, “Twilight Zone”. The outcome for each story is very different. I enjoyed the twist in the plot, where the main character doesn’t always come out on top. That twist kept my interest high knowing I couldn’t predict how each of the other stories would end. I highly recommend this book. I will be reading it again!” – Amazon review
